I was not able to explain it in words, but those days felt to me like suspended in time.

30 years later I understood why.

A couple of days ago, I took part into a Women Circle initiated by Melanie Stalder and I was introduced to an ancient tradition called in German "Rauchnächte". And this made totally sense.

This ancient tradition of "Rauchnächte" was celebrated between what we now celebrate as Christmas and Epiphany in German speaking countries. These days were a sacred time to come inwards, smudge the homes and the barns and try to anticipate the weather and the events of the next year- which for agricultural cultures was essential to survival.

This practice aligns so beautifully with what I have been practicing and teaching my clients and that’s why I have been so compelled to create a beautiful ritual for my clients to have between the years, 2022 and 2023. I have therefore created “Between the years, the 12 Magic Nights”, a time to create a sacred space, a time for rituals, a time to bring light into the dark days of winter.

This time of the year is also related to the Water element. The Water element is the utmost expression of the Yin Energy.

I know that this is the exact contrary of how December looks like for many of you: running from one meeting to another, closing up the financial year, attending school events, preparing family gatherings and trying to find the perfect gifts…

That’s why a ritual like “Between the years, the 12 Magic Nights” is so powerful. Instead of completely giving into the business that rends to run the show at this time of the year, Between the years, the 12 Magic Nights” is an invitation to respect your inner rhythms and the rhythm of nature and to carve some time for you to come inwards, reflect and prepare for spring.
